Just so there is no confusion, I am the
creator of this website. My name is John Benbow, and am an avid fan of Marcel Duchamp. Though I am Particularly favour of
his earlier works, I strongly believe that it was also his later work that contributed to the art world.
I am currently in my second year at the
University of Western Ontario, and studying for a Bachelors in Philosophy, with a Minor in Art History and Critisism, and
Psychology. I hope to one day become an elementary school teacher. I hope to teach overseas in Asia, or an under-developed
country where a good education doesn't come as easy as it may for us in Canada.
My first love is art, I have been drawing,
photographing, and painting now for close to a decade. Having won a total of 2 municipal art contests, along with one
national, and having my work hung in the Regional London Art Museum a total of four times, I can honestly say I have spent
the better part of a decade immersing myself in art. Only in the past two years (out of a total of six) have I really
started to devote my education to the history of art, rather than the actual creation of it, by myself of course.
The purpose of this site was to further educate
the reader on one of my favourite artists, Marcel Duchamp. I only hope that the person reading this has as much as an appreciation
as I do for this artist. From the history, inspirations, innovations, and legacy of Marcel Duchamp I hope that the reader
can ascertain even just the littlist of knowledge.
